Questions and answers
We have collected what customers ask most often. If your question is not here, call or write to us.
Preparation
What do I need to do before you arrive?
The room has to be empty. Take out furniture, rugs and small items, and take down anything on the walls that could get dusty. If something cannot be moved, tell us when you ask for a quote.
Can every floor be sanded?
Not every one. Parquet and solid wood have a thick layer of wood and usually survive several sandings. Laminate panels and floors with a thin top layer usually cannot be sanded. We will check from photos or on site.
What about skirting boards and doors?
We usually take the skirting off and fit it back, or leave it and sand right up to it. Tell us when you ask for a quote what skirting you have and whether the doors should stay in place.
How the work goes
Can I live in the house during the work?
You can, if there is at least one room where we are not working. For the first hours after lacquering nobody may step on the floor. We use eco-friendly lacquers, but the smell is strongest then. With children or pets it is better to find another place for that time.
How many days does the work take?
Smaller jobs usually take about 3 days. For larger jobs we agree the time individually, because it depends on the area, the condition of the floor and the finish you choose.
When can I walk on the floor and put furniture back?
Once the finish has dried you can walk on it in socks, but put furniture and rugs back later. Exact times depend on the product and on the temperature, so you will get them from us in writing.
Will there be a lot of dust?
Very little. We work with dust-free machines that extract the dust while sanding, and we seal the doors to other rooms.
Finish
Lacquer or oil?
Lacquer forms a hard layer and copes better with heavy traffic and water. Oil leaves the wood closer to its natural look, but it has to be refreshed. We will help you choose after we have seen the floor.
Can I change the colour of the floor?
Yes. After sanding the floor can be stained lighter, darker or in a shade of grey. The result depends on the species of wood, so we first test on a small patch.
Can you work on a floor with underfloor heating?
Yes, but we need to know in advance. The heating is switched off during the work and drying, and some finishes suit it better than others. Mention it in your enquiry.
How do I look after the floor afterwards?
A lacquered floor only needs damp mopping, without too much water. An oiled floor has to be refreshed with oil from time to time. We leave a short set of instructions after the work.
Price and payment
How do you work out the price?
We price by the square metre. It depends on the condition of the floor, the finish you choose and whether anything needs repairing. The quote is free, and we prepare it after seeing the floor or photos of it.
How do I pay, and will I get an invoice?
We issue a receipt or an invoice, so ask about it when you get the quote. We agree the form and date of payment together with the price.
Where do you work?
Most often in Kalisz, Ostrów Wielkopolski, Turek, Sieradz, Konin, Krotoszyn and Koło. If you are somewhere else, send us the town and we will tell you whether we can come and whether the travel affects the price.
Your question is not here?
Call us or send photos of the floor. We will answer along with the quote.
